Betting or gambling has been such a favorite pastime of many people. Since ancient times people have been casting lots or setting their bets in various events especially in sports. From the gladiator duels in ancient Rome to the bullfights in Spain, people love the thrill of betting. The problem is, betting is teeming with risks. People waste large sums of money when they lose while betting, some even ruin their lives because of mismanaged gambling. People however love winning and would exert all efforts to profit from their bets. Luckily, clever people discovered a solution to earn from betting without facing the dreaded risks. This solution comes in the form of arbitrage betting, which is now popularly being used in sports gambling.

What is Arbitrage all about?

The term arbitrage refers to the method of trading that ensures profits while eliminating risks. Though arbitrage has been used by people since time immemorial, it has lately become quite popular with the stock market. Arbitrage entails using certain small opportunities to profit during trade. At a first glance, the transactions being used seem to provide very insignificant profits, but when done on a larger scale, the profit becomes quite substantial, and even lucrative. In the world of finance, arbitrage is done by purchasing stocks on one particular market and immediately selling what is purchased to another market that provides an opportunity for profit of whatever size.

For example, shares of a certain company are being sold for $9.00 in the New York Stock exchange. Meanwhile in the London Stock exchange it is being sold for only $8.50. This is an arbitrage opportunity, or an arb. A trader, who practices arbitrage, or an arbitrageur, would purchase the London Stock Exchange shares and then sell the same amount on the New York Stock exchange. This would entail a 50-cent profit for every share. While this seems to be a miniscule amount, it can translate into a huge sum when shares are traded in large quantities.

How can Arbitrage be Applied to Sports Betting?

In the sports betting world, arbitrage can be employed by taking into consideration the differences present in bookmakers’ odds. Profit is made certain by making bets on each option in the sports event that would entail profits for the arbitrageur whoever would win. Arbitrageur would comb through the different odds presented by bookmakers on each participant of the sports event, and bet on each one. Whatever is the result of the event, a profit is guaranteed. Just like with its finance counterpart, sport arbitrage is done is large volumes to provide substantial profits, taking full advantage of the arbs, also known as overbrokes, underrounds, and surebets.

For example, on a certain football match, Team A has odds of 11/8 with Bookmaker A. Meanwhile Team B has odds of 4/5 with Bookmaker B. Taking the difference between the two bookmakers translates into a profit of around 2.4%. An arbitrageur would place bets in proportion with the odds. For example, $1000 would be invested in this arb. The amount would be divided according to the proportion of the odds so that around $431 would be placed on Team A, and then around $569 would be placed on Team B. If Team A wins, the arbitrageur would get around $1023.63, and if Team A wins, the arbitrageur would get $1024.20. This means that the particular arb would entail a profit around $23 to $24, if an investment of $1000 is made.

Such scenarios are what many investors have been trying out today, yielding favorable results. With sports arbitrage betting, profits are ensured without risks of losing.

To learn more about sports arbitrage betting, there are several websites devoted to this betting technique. A simple search on sports arbitrage betting on a leading search engine would lead one to a vast sea of information about the betting process.

By: William Tan

About the Author:

Prior to delving into the world of sports betting online, many people stop to wonder if they are breaking any state or local laws. In most states, and even the federal government, have legislation about whether its legal or not to gamble online.

Who Regulates Sports Betting?

The regulations of gambling in the US were entirely discretionary per state until recently. The start of online gambling created confusion about jurisdiction. Who runs the laws of cyberspace? Most current gambling laws were meant to apply to general gambling laws, long before the internet existed. Thus the application of those laws to online gambling are open to broad interpretation.

US Regulation of Sports Betting

Most people ask “Is it legal to run a ports betting operation offshore and take action from clients in the US?” The US will most likely argue it is not legal. However, no bills have yet been passed to prevent any such activities from happening. In recent years, attempts to pass bills of this sort have failed.

The government has placed responsibility of gambling legislation at the hands of individual states. Some states have considered legalizing online gambling but have failed. Some states also have added legislation that prohibits the advertising of online casino (Illinois is one such state). Only three states – Nevada, Louisiana and California prohibit citizens from betting beyond state borders. Such laws are loosely enforced. In fact, most states consider gambling violations misdemeanors with the majority focusing on operators as opposed to the gamblers themselves. To avoid breaking US laws, most internet sportsbooks are located offshore in foreign countries along with their servers!

To be clear, the US government has been trying to pass legislation to deal with the regulation of online gambling. But, because there are so many grey areas regarding who has authority over cyberspace activities, these attempts have been unsuccessful in passing. It’s becoming clear that the US will not be able to effectively legislate online gambling as of now but that’s not to say what the future may hold…

So, Can I Bet Sports Legally?

The simple answer is there is an explicit law against online betting in only three states – Nevada, California, and Louisiana. Even so, NO American citizen has r been arrested for betting on the internet as of yet. Again, that’s not to say what the future may bring…

By: Noah Mann

About the Author:

The economy has hit an all time low, and people are really starting to feel the pressure from their lack of income. Many people have lost their job and even more are struggling to make ends meet even working full time. If you are struggling too, chances are you are getting desperate to find a new way to make money just like everyone else. The only problem is you’ve seen friends and family fall for those online scams and you can’t afford to lose money like that. Still, out of all of those fake businesses that try to take your money from you one of them has to be legit, doesn’t it?

There is a legit program that does actually want to make you money and you might be surprised to know what it is. It’s not a sales job where you have to spend hours trying to convince people to buy a product you already invested in, nor are you expected to invest your life savings into something that might never return the investment. The product you can use to make money will actually teach you how to make safe bets on various sporting events and have a 97% win rate.

Of course, gambling can be dangerous. There is a lot of risk involved, after all that is what makes it fun. What’s worse is that once you lose money you can become tempted to keep playing until you lose it all because you were trying to win it back. With the Sports Betting System from John Morrison you don’t need to worry about things like that anymore. You won’t be taking a risk when placing your bets; you’ll be pretty much guaranteed to earn back more than you put in. How can someone promise something like this?

John Morrison is a graduate from Cornell University who got his degree in statistics. He also was a huge sports fan and watched every big game there was from baseball to basketball and, of course, football. He was sure there was a way to make money using his degree and his passion and over the years he worked on creating the perfect system to do just that. Since he finished this system he has had very few losses in his bets and has won hundreds of thousands of dollars. From 2008 to date he only had one loss out of his couple hundred bets and that’s something not even the luckiest gambler can claim.

His system works and he wants you to see for yourself how you can make money just like him. Once you make use of his Sports Betting System you won’t need the poorly paying job anymore and you certainly won’t be struggling to make ends meet. He is offering his amazing system for only $197 and while that seems like a lot of money for those who are down on their luck it’s only an investment. John has a money back guarantee for his product so if you aren’t getting that 97% win rate, you get your investment back. Give this product a try because really, there’s nothing to lose.

By: Jason Bryant

About the Author:

Online Sports Gambling – The Law and You

Straight Answers On the Legality of Sports Betting

When considering betting sports on the internet, it’s not uncommon for a person to wonder whether they’re breaking a local or state law. After all, most states, and even the federal government, have legislation about whether and how it’s legal or not to gamble.

Who Regulates Sports Betting?

Until recently, the regulation of gambling in the US was left entirely to the discretion of the individual States. But the advent of online gambling created confusion about jurisdiction. After all, who runs the laws in cyberspace? Most current laws meant to apply to gambling in general were created long before the internet existed, and thus the application of those laws to online gambling is open to broad interpretation.

US Regulation of Sports Betting

“The most important question being asked about online gambling is: ‘Is it legal to run a sports betting operation offshore and take action from clients in the United States?’ The US government will argue it is not legal.

However, no bills have been passed to prevent such activity; and in recent years attempts to pass bills of this nature have failed,” explains Chris Costigan, sports gambling analyst and president of Gambling911.com, the industry’s premier sportsbook watchdog site.

Costigan continues on, “The Federal government has placed much of the responsibility of gambling legislation in the hands of individual states, some of which have considered legalizing online gambling (North Dakota voted on legalizing online poker within the state, but that bill failed to pass). Some states, like Illinois, have added legislation that strictly prohibits the advertising of online casinos. Only three states – California, Louisiana, and Nevada – strictly prohibit its citizens from betting beyond state borders. However, such laws are historically loosely enforced. Most states consider gambling violations misdemeanors with the vast majority focusing specifically on operators as opposed to the actual gamblers themselves.”

To avoid breaking US law, most internet sportsbooks are located offshore in foreign countries and also house their computer servers there. (Click here to learn more about the Advantages of Online Sportsbooks)

To be clear, the US government has been attempting to pass legislation to deal specifically with the regulation of online gambling. However, because there are so many grey areas regarding who has authority over activities in cyberspace, these attempts have not been successful in passing and it’s becoming clear that the US will not be able to effectively legislate online gambling. As Costigan and Gambling911.com point out, “2005 will be the first time in five years we will not see any proposed anti-gambling bills emerge in Washington.”

Legal Issues: The Summary

The Wire Wager Act

The Wire Wager Act, in its most basic sense, prohibits the use of a wire transmission to foster a gambling pursuit. What does this mean? Your guess is as good as mine, and as good as the people who wrote the legislation. Some lawyers argue that what this act means is that any interstate use of the internet that is related to placing or receiving bets is illegal. However, other lawyers believe that this cannot be applied to internet betting due to both the extensive use of wireless internet services and also, due to some vagary in the language, the act may only apply to sports event betting and not other types of betting. Most importantly, the specific language of the Wire Wager Act says that it applies only to those participating in the business of betting or wagering. That limits its impact to only sportsbooks and casinos and means that it can in no way be used against the actual bettor.

April 2005: Two important rulings are handed down regarding online sports betting. Chris Costigan, sums them up as follows:

“Firstly, the World Trade Organization upheld its decision in favor of Antigua, a tiny island nation that claimed the United States stymied its lucrative online gambling industry. Antigua contended that many online gambling operators left its jurisdiction as a direct result of the United States crackdown on operators and advertising venues.

A more critical ruling involved the United Kingdom, which now allows gambling companies to take bets online from the UK. While England’s stance on bookmaking is quite opposite of the United States, internet sports betting shops and online casinos were forced to operate offshore on nearby islands such as Gibraltar and the Isle of Man. The United Kingdom decision is viewed as a nod of approval by an industrial nation paving the way for internet gambling to thrive in a fully regulated environment, and the U.S. is most likely to recognize and respect its position.”

So, Can an American Bet Sports Legally?

The simple answer is there is an explicit law against online betting in only three states – Nevada, California, and Louisiana. Even so, NO American citizen has ever been arrested for betting on the internet.

Pregame.com provides sports betting rules, basics, advice, systems, and strategy, online for free, covering NFL Football, NCAA college basketball, NBA, pro MLB baseball wagering from gambling experts.

By: Johnny Detroit

About the Author:

If you are looking for a way to make some fast money then you can realize your dream by resorting to sports betting. If you are already a lover of sports then you should be having the required knowledge of the sport on which you intend to bet. So if you make up your mind about putting down your money on a sport on which you have enough knowledge, the chances of winning money are pretty high. Besides, you can find a lot of free gambling articles on the Net to help increase your knowledge in this area.

What with the sports betting systems available online today, betting on any sport from anywhere in the world could not get any easier. You can bet on different kinds of sports whether it is baseball, soccer, football, tennis, boxing, horse racing or any other. Most of these websites have even created forums where people can chat about the sports they are interested in and ask whatever questions they might have. Some of them even provide you with free gambling articles to give you a better insight into sports betting and improving your skills.

Besides the websites you also have the blogs on the Net which provide you with quite a bit of free sports betting info. Anybody can comment on these blogs and so they can end up as a vast reservoir of knowledge pertaining to various sports, their statistics and odds of winning. You also have access to a number of free gambling articles which can lead you to your road of success. Don’t ever try to bet on a sport that you don’t even have enough knowledge about. Now with the internet revolution it is possible for anyone to bet on just about any kind of sport from any place at any time on the Internet.

Sports betting or sports gambling can turn out to be a pretty bad addiction if you do not control it in time just like you would any other kind of addiction. You should manage your budget well and it would help if you had a separate account for sports betting altogether. Whenever you win money it should go into that account and whenever you use money or lose some it should go from that account only. And absolutely no spending more than you can possibly afford! No putting your next month’s rent on the line and not your gold wedding ring either. You would do well to read up some free gambling articles on the Net to learn a few tips and pieces of advice.

Like in other kinds of betting too, the success or failure of sports betting depends on the understanding of the bettor about the sport and everything else that is linked to it. Having a good knowledge of sports betting would give you a fair idea of what things you ought to do and what you should keep away from. This would help you avoid making mistakes which might prove to be pretty expensive. Many amateur bettors ignore the advice offered in the free gambling articles and therefore fail.

By: Britney Simpson

About the Author:
